AS1428.1-2009 Assessment & Reporting

The legislative structure of this document endeavours to designate the obligation of construction professionals to upgrade existing buildings over a period of time without placing undue hardship on parties such as lessees or strata owners. This standard applies to all new building works where a Building Permit is applied for under the Building Act. Unauthorised Works

The new Building Act 2011 introduced more severe penalties for buildings built without a building permit. Local Government authorities are now able to issue a building order on any building owner regardless of whether they were responsible for the illegal structure or not. Fortunately, there is an avenue to apply for retrospective approval. WABCA can assist you with your unapproved works application for approval.

Unapproved works, otherwise known as unauthorised works, are effectively illegal structures. In order to ensure building occupier safety and to transfer property through a sale of the title, all unapproved works must be checked for compliance and certified by an independent, qualified and registered building surveyor. WABCA are able to inspect the site of the structure and offer complete advise on compliance issues. WABCA also has a full-time statutory planner available to deal with those awkward planning issues where and when necessary.

Building Act Approvals

Obtaining a building permit approval under the Building Act 2011 is no longer the simple process it used to be. The new Act has over 20 statutory forms and certificates dealing with the approval process. Many of WABCA customers are pleased to hand over their compliance and approval processes to our Project Management team who will facilitate the approval process from start to finish.
